In Islamic law or Sharia, Umrah means to perform Tawaf around the Kaaba and Saee between Safa and Marwah in the state of Ihram. Umrah is called lesser pilgrimage or minor pilgrimage whereas Hajj is a major pilgrimage. Hajj is compulsory for every Muslim who can bear all expenses of it whereas Umrah is not compulsory but it is Sunnah.
